Beach Clean-up Drives
On April 9, 2024, the Gold King Charitable Trust and Reaching the Unreached Neighbourhood (RUN) Students of the English Department at Holy Cross College (Autonomous) joined hands to organize a Beach Cleanup Programme at Annai Nagar in Kanyakumari District. The event commenced at 10:30 am with Mrs. D. Cathrine Mary, Managing Trustee of GK Charitable Trust, extending a warm welcome to all participants and providing an overview of the program’s objectives.
The felicitation address was delivered by Rev. Fr. Rymand, acknowledging the efforts of all involved in the initiative. Students from the RUN programme, part of the English Department’s SF (Self-Financing) stream at Holy Cross College, enthusiastically volunteered to clean the beach. They diligently collected various items such as plastic spoons, plastic bags, flip-flops, broken glass, discarded clothes, and paper cups strewn across the beach area.
The cleanup activities were conducted with zeal and commitment, aiming to restore the cleanliness of Annai Nagar beach. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the staff members from Holy Cross College, expressing gratitude to all participants and supporters for their contributions towards environmental conservation.
Outcome
26 students and 2 staff members from Holy Cross College actively participated in the beach cleanup programme at Annai Nagar. Their enthusiastic involvement not only contributed to cleaning up the beach but also demonstrated their commitment to environmental conservation and community service.
