Lets’ Create Clean and Green Earth
On February 25, 2023, Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board (TNUHDB), RUN Students of Holy Cross College (Autonomous), and Gold King Charitable Trust collaborated to organize a programme called Let’s Create a Clean and Green Earth in the New Parakinkal community at Paalkulam near Vattakotai. The purpose of this programme was to clean the ground and make the community green. The event was attended by 43 students and 10 adults from the community who worked together to remove bushes, plastic materials, papers, and other waste from the ground with support from community members and Mr. Immanuel (Community Participatory Assistant).
The first sapling was planted by Mr. Raja Gopal (Assistant Executive Engineer) followed by American students from Holy Cross College, volunteer boys from the community, TNUHDB staff members, Director & Volunteers of Gold King Charitable Trust who supported planting an additional 20 saplings including Neem, Poovarasu, Poggu in and around the community area. This event not only helped bring cleanliness but also promoted fresh air thanks to the new trees which will provide shade for future generations while bringing natural beauty to this area for years to come!
